Don't just volunteer.
Community Action is a weeklong pre-orientation program for the freshman class sponsored by the Pace Center for Civic Engagement at Princeton University. A uniquely immersive experience, CA participants don’t just volunteer. Students engage with a range of people and cultures as they eat, sleep, and work in the communities they serve. No experience? No problem! Community Action welcomes applicants from all backgrounds – no experience necessary! CA requires only a willingness to work, to get a little dirty, and to have a whole lot of fun. Student-run. Student-led. Community Action is students to the core. From coordinating and scheduling activities with community partners, to supervising and mentoring incoming freshmen during an unforgettable week of service, students are involved every step of the way. All things Princeton. Before you arrive. Community Action is a great way to meet your classmates and establish lasting friendships prior to orientation. Upper-class leaders advise freshmen on all things Princeton, and groups get to interact with world-class faculty and staff over a family-style dinner and book discussion. It starts with a week. Community Action seeks to promote an ethic of service among undergraduates, foster productive collaboration between the University and surrounding communities, and engage all participants in both academic and interpersonal dialogue. |
