Breakout Princeton is an opportunity to take a break week to learn about and take action on complex public issues through community immersion, direct service, group discussions, and reflection activities. Trips bring together a diverse group of students to explore an equally diverse array of topics, such as criminal justice, environmental sustainability, poverty, healthcare, education reform... the list goes on. All trips are organized, developed, and led by students, for students. The level of engagement and initiative combine to provide one of Princeton’s premier leadership development opportunities. Students who have participated in the past have often been inspired to explore new interest and paths, including majors, careers, summer opportunities, and student groups. The full Breakout experience consists of a series of pre-trip meetings, an unforgettable week with your peers, and related post-trip wrap-up sessions. Pre-trip meetings provide students with a common base of knowledge and a chance to get to know one another. Post-trip meetings encourage participants to share what they’ve learned with the other Breakout trips, prospective applicants, and the wider campus community.
